HTML (Web) E-mail -- Get It, If You Can!

Web E-mail... Sometimes I think that I could write a weekly Dispatch just about writing the Dispatch. One of the most frequently asked questions is "What is HTML e-mail?" and "Can I get it?" HTML e-mail simply means that you receive graphics and colors -- just like a web page. It's much easier to read. So you'll see built-in hyperlinks and pictures (Eileen, me!). If you can, you should get HTML e-mail.

About 33% of PikeNet subscribers receive this Dispatch as HTML. But I know that at least another 33% could get it in this format. So click the "Edit My Profile" link on the home page (in the box to the right) and change your setting. Or if you want to change your whole company, let me know. I can easily mass update all your addresses. Thanks you for subscribing to the Dispatch! Please spread the word.

Warning: AOL and many corporate e-mail systems, like Lotus Notes, do not accept HTML e-mail. In fact, Notes' ability to handle HTML code has baffled me for years. So here's the definitive word from my friend Harold Dittmer Harold_Dittmer@glenborough.com at Glenborough Realty Trust. "Any Notes e-mail server of version 4.x can NOT properly display e-mail containing HTML information. ... Any Notes server of version 5.x or higher can properly process the HTML code and display the e-mail message properly. Version 5.x is a fairly new version, so it's fair to say that most Notes e-mail servers cannot process the HTML-based e-mail."
