Questions
for the New Year... "What's [Michael] Dell's secret?
At its heart is his belief that the status quo is never good enough..." That's
from a cover story in BusinessWeek (Nov 3, 2003). And it's
also a good mission statement for the PikeNet Dispatch.
Looking back over the past eight years, there's sure no shortage of evidence that our industry doesn't stand still. Just think about the real estate cycle that we've experienced from 1996 to 2003. Boom to bust to recovery (we hope!). My aim in the Dispatch is to write about trends -- technology, marketing, and management -- that impact the delivery of real estate services. What will be different tomorrow? And, just as importantly, what will not be different? Reader comments probably account for half of all Dispatch story ideas. For example, one reader recently asked about implementation of new USA Patriot Act regulations, mentioned in a Dispatch last year (June 3, 2003). Are you now checking your tenants' names against the federal list of terrorist organizations? So what changes do you see happening? How is your organization responding? What questions would you like to ask other Dispatch readers? Blast away. Spreading the Word... Of course, I'm prejudiced. But I think that the ten thousand subscribers to the Dispatch are the leaders in commercial real estate today. Dispatch Sponsors -- thank you LoopNet -- make this free service possible for all readers. If you would like to sponsor a future Dispatch, send e-mail or call 415-485-6700. I appreciate your support. --Peter Pike |
