1. Featured Site... The National Real Estate Investor and its sister publications Shopping Center World, Retail Store Image, Commercial Real Estate South and Midwest Real Estate News, launched a beautiful new web site, the Internet Review Online (IROL) on October 2, 1996. They have thrown down the gauntlet by putting the full text of each issue online for free--a major step into the Internet age by one of the nation's largest real estate print news providers.

Designed as a "pathfinder" for commercial real estate news and resources, IROL currently features daily news headline stories with past issues searchable by keyword. It will eventually include industry surveys, an industry calendar of events and a "national listing database." The site already includes an interesting Commercial Referral Service. After submitting an electronic form, the visitor will be "connected" within 24 hours to a broker with the Prudential network. IROL is a very attractively designed site and will be fun to watch as it develops.

2. New and Notable... Copley Real Estate Advisors unveiled their attractive new web site on September 26, 1996. It features research and includes Copley's fund returns--a first for any institutional real estate investment adviser. Realty Showcase is an innovative e-mail service for Chicago brokers offered by Sara E.F. Gensburg Architecture. Each night she sends out an e-mail to 600 professionals with "haves and wants." This list is then posted at the Realty Showcase web site. The New Mexico Apartment Report, developed by Todd Clarke, a CCIM broker, is one of the best sites created by an individual for a local market--good research.

Koger Equity, a REIT specializing in suburban office buildings across the Southeastern and Southwestern U.S., has a site under construction. The Dikman Company provides brokerage services in the Tampa Bay Area. The Maddux Report is a monthly magazine which covers business, finance and development news in the Tampa Bay Area. John Burnham & Company provides real estate and commercial insurance services in San Diego, California. Faison, which owns and manages commercial properties across the Southeastern U.S., has a web site under development. Koll-Dove Disposition Services provides auction information, but mostly of equipment sales rather than real estate.

3. Web Success... Peter Petrouski, a broker with Starboard Commercial in San Francisco, completed a 3,500 square foot office lease with a Canadian software company that initially sent an e-mail after visiting the Starboard web site. Note: If you have a success story, please e-mail me.

4. Top 10 List... I have redone many of the Top 10 Lists, including Commercial and Residential REITs, Office Sites and US and International Brokers. These lists are now much easier to use because you can click the name of the company and go directly there without having to read the Site Review. Going quickly from site to site (at least at ISDN speeds) gives you a very good feel for how far Top 10 sites have grown in the last six months. The bar is going up.

5. Keyword Advertising... You can now "buy" a keyword at PikeNet so that every time that word is searched for, your advertising banner will be displayed. For example, you could buy your own name or market area or an industry term, like "hotel." Introductory cost is $50 per word per month, minimum two-month term. Interested? E-mail.

6. Subscribing and Canceling... If you do not want to receive this Dispatch, please reply with "cancel" in the Message field to remove your name. Please include your name and company. If you know a person who would like to be added to this list, please send me an e-mail with the word "subscribe."
