1. New and Notable... Orlando Corporation develops and manages industrial, office and retail properties in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Revest Financial Software markets REVEST POWER LEASE to facilitate negotiations between landlords and tenants--free demo downloadable at its site. McGranahan Carlson & Company develops and manages office, industrial and R&D facilities in Los Angeles. The Hopgood Group, based in Hartford, Connecticut, specializes exclusively in hotel brokerage and consulting. The Commercial Association of Realtors in New Mexico (CARNM) provides very useful market information and tools at its site.

Corplan, Inc. offers facilities location consulting services nationwide from West Orange, New Jersey, and posts two free downloadable programs for analyzing comparative costs of operating facilities in different MSAs. Chesterton Binswanger International goes online with a list of global offices. Joseph Chris & Associates is a professional search firm with listings for job opportunities in Texas and the Southeast. RealData® offers software for commercial real estate analysis.

2. Nationwide... This week I received an interesting e-mail: "I am an investment officer with a life insurance company. We are trying to find a reliable source for rent and sales comps on commercial properties…(from) one source if possible for the entire country…to analyze the real estate that secures our loans."

The closest that I could come to a suggestion is the New America Network site which posts brief surveys on many markets. The Koll site has announced for months "a special on-line commercial real estate market report." COMPS Inc. states that, "in the near future," you will be able to receive real estate transaction information at their site. Teleres does provide market information through their proprietary system to subscribers, but not publicly on the web. No doubt in my mind, some organization will figure out how to make this information easily accessible soon (possibly for a modest fee). If you think that I have missed a source, please e-mail me.

3. Web Success... Tom Crawford of Durbin and Associates in Arlington, Texas, needed to show an apartment complex owner where competitive properties were located. Using BigBook, he entered the name of the city and the category of business, "Apartments." In just a few minutes, he printed out a map with selected properties plotted out.

4. Site of the Week... As retailing and entertainment merge, developers and investors will be interested in the services of BRC Imagination Arts which designs and produces themed attractions for visitor centers, theme parks and science centers.

5. Advertising Banners... Top Level banners were seen over 2,000 times in November. Dan Mihalovich, a broker with Cushman & Wakefield, bought the first Word Banner at PikeNet. If you enter "office" as the first word in a text search, like "office San Francisco," you'll see his banner at the top of the page. For complete advertising details, click Banner Advertising on the green stripe on the PikeNet home page.

6. PikeNet Changes... Several readers have requested a fast way to search for all records in a Category, e.g,. Professional Association or REIT-Commercial. I've begun to create shortcuts under the heading "Category Search" down the PikeNet home page. Warning: Some Categories, like Broker with over 300 records, can take a long time to download. And you'll probably want to use the "star" hyperlink to organize the list so that the best sites are at the top.

7. Subscribing/Canceling... If you do not want to receive this Dispatch, please reply with "cancel" in the Message field to remove your name. Please include your name and company. If you know a person who would like to be added to this list, please send e-mail with the word "subscribe" to Peter Pike at .
