1. New and Notable... Aperture Technologies, Inc. develops software that ties numeric and textual data to objects on maps and blueprints. Case studies show you exactly how major U.S. corporations use Aperture to analyze their occupancies. Try out the Aperture demo which links maps and floor plans to an Oracle database and extracts information over the Internet on the fly. Click on a location on the map and find out lease terms or click on an element of a floor plan, say a conference table, and find out when it was purchased and what it cost. Imagine having all this kind of information available on a corporate intranet for your staff and allied service providers. (Works with IE 3.0 and Netscape 3.0) RealCareers seeks to create a single stop for real estate employers and applicants. You'll find job openings from coast to coast with some of America's best firms. NAIFA, the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, provides an excellent site for their members and the public, including an active chat room on appraisal issues. Information Technology Centers World Wide, has been launched by Rudin Management, with their New York Technology Center at 55 Broad Street and ITC/Carreras in London. Prime Retail, a Baltimore-based REIT specializing in manufacturers' outlet malls across the country, has posted a superb site that is equally attractive to real estate professionals, stock market investors and consumers. The Galbreath Company, which provides management and corporate services nationwide, has launched a site with a description of their services. 2. BOMA Summit--Los Angeles... Featuring a live video conference involving the Edward S. Gordon Company in New York, The Buck Company in Chicago and Cushman Realty and CB Commercial, in Los Angeles, the BOMA Summit Conference opened with a bang on Wednesday, December 11. The impact of technology was a recurring theme throughout the day which included a preview of an innovative office space listing service which will be formally launched on January 1, 1997, by the Los Angeles-based Daily Journal and sponsored by the BOMA Chapter. 3. Web Success... Compass Management and Leasing, Inc. needed pictures and descriptions of major office buildings in Philadelphia's City Center for a market report to an institutional client. Now using the Internet, Compass could go the Office Buildings Magazine web site with its 3,500 pictures of Northeast properties and select exactly which buildings they needed in just a few minutes. 4. Internet Blimp... You know the world is changing when an Internet search engine, Alta Vista, sponsors the official blimp at a National Football League game, December 8, Charlotte versus San Francisco (the 49ers lost). 5. Web Conferences... As a new feature at PikeNet, I'm posting information on commercial real estate Internet seminars or conferences. Click the Web Conferences hyperlink on the green stripe on the home page. You'll find announcements there for events in San Diego on February 1, 1997, and in London on February 26-7, 1997.
