1. WEB SUCCESS. NAIOP uses its web site to launch an e-mail
campaign to lobby for a reduction in the capital gains tax rate. According to Tom Bisacquino, Executive Vice President of NAIOP, a member first finds his or her Congressional representative's e-mail address at NAIOP's web site. Then the member has a choice of selecting a pre-formatted issue letter or writing a new one. With a click of the mouse this letter is sent instantly to the Congress--a lot easier than mailing a regular letter.

2. NEW AND NOTABLE. Provident Mutual Life's real estate
department
offers loans and REO properties. KMA, Keyser Marston
Associates
, advises on real estate economics and redevelopment in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. TrizecHahn Centers is the combination of Trizec and Hahn with a very sophisticated web site equally oriented toward consumers and real estate professionals. Realty Rate Monitor is an excellent monthly e-mail newsletter on key real estate investment and financial rates. LamBis Consulting posts a very good research report on the Dallas market.

Enterprise Property Group provides office, industrial and retail property management services across Canada. Kolpron Consultants BV provides real estate services in Rotterdam, Berlin, Budapest, Prague, Warsaw and Moscow. Parque Industrial Itabo includes interesting information on doing business in the Dominican Republic. SAPOA--South African Property Owners Association would be a valuable site for those doing business in that country.

3. MOST VISITED SITES. I've put a page up to show sites most visited after users leave PikeNet. For February, the top five sites in order were CRE-NET, CB Commercial, First Union's RE Department, Marcus & Millichap, and the New America Network. (Note: Banner advertising click throughs are not included.) To see the top 10 sites for January and February, go to "About PikeNet" and then "Sites Most Visited." Also, check out the new San Diego Toolkit.

4. UH-OH…NO REAL ESTATE NEEDED. "Indeed, it's the very absence of brick and mortar that provides E*Trade with cost advantages and potential for wider profit margins…" according to an analyst quoted in the March 5, 1997, Wall Street Journal. E*Trade is a web-based electronic stock brokerage company with no branch offices.
