1. NEW AND NOTABLE. ITRA, the International Tenant Representation Alliance, offers representation services for corporate tenants and buyers exclusively from offices across the U.S. Joe Adame & Associates provides commercial and industrial real estate services in Corpus Christi, Texas. The City of Etobicoke's Business Development Office (Toronto, Canada) has created a model web site for government organizations seeking to distribute information and promote business in their jurisdictions. Karnes Research provides good income property listing information and research services in Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte, NC. Chesterton International, headquartered in London, offers commercial property services globally. AMRESCO, INC. is a diversified financial services company specializing in residential and commercial mortgage banking. 2. WEB SUCCESS.. Jim Osgood, founder of the Office Finder network, which has members in 67 markets, reports that the web led directly to a transaction for his network. A software training firm used Yahoo to locate an Office Finder member and initiate a search for space in Seattle. To facilitate the process, Jim created a web page at the Office Finder site as a "platform for our client to view work in progress with information available at any time." The result: a successful lease execution. 3. SPONSOR. This issue of the PikeNet Dispatch is sponsored by the Australian Property Web at http://propertyweb.com.au. "Far and away the best site in Australia. Comprehensive information for the commercial, residential and hotel markets. Statistics, research and 1,000s of listings." 4. PIKENET CHANGES. A new Toolkit for Salt Lake City has been added. The Top 10 Brokers Web Sites list has been divided into two lists: Brokers-National and Brokers-Regional. This makes it easier to compare web sites of companies and organizations offering similar services. 5. CONTEXT. According to futurist Paul Saffo, "It is not content but context that will matter most a decade or so from now. The scarce resource will not be stuff, but point of view." That's certainly true for real estate. Since PikeNet's launch a year ago, the directory has grown to over 1,700 web sites. Imagine when there are thousands more commercial real estate sites. What's relevant to you? That's where you use PikeNet to look up key words, search a category, view a Toolkit or browse Web Success stories. These are all ways for you to "pull" information. To save you time in the future, I'll try to "push" short commentaries to you either from me or guest writers. If you would like to comment on an Internet-related issue for the Dispatch, please send e-mail or call me at 415-485-6700. 6. PIKENET SEMINARS. Next week I'll be in Salt Lake City to present a seminar to the Consolidated Realty Group. If your company or organization would like a presentation on how to maximize the value of the Internet, send e-mail or call me at 415-485-6700. 7. SUBSCRIBING/CANCELING.
