1.WEB SUCCESS. Joseph S. Soter, a facilites management consultant based in Tustin, CA, recently used the web to complete a prioritized plan for implementing an ADA compliance plan for a manufacturer.

"Using the Web, I found manufacturers data, product catalogs and prices on-line for some hard to find items. As a value added piece, I included printouts of these web-sites as an appendix to facilitate the client’s implementation. The client was delighted to not have to do further research to find these sources. The Web saved me time by providing a quick search capability. The entire project was finished in one week."

2. NEW AND NOTABLE. Prentiss Properties has further improved its excellent web site, including the addition of its quarterly conference calls with analysts in RealAudio. Frederick Ross Co., based in Denver offers commercial real estate brokerage and research for the Colorado market. HAS, Hiffman Shaffer Associates, Inc. provides corporate real estate services and development in Chicago, IL. The Bay Area Appraisal Cooperative is a group of independent appraisers providing services in the area around San Francisco, CA.

The Asset Recovery Fund, Inc., invests primarily in non-performing loans typically collateralized by real estate from Austin, TX. Harvest One Properties, located in Dallas, provides brokerage services in Texas and Mexico. The Title Office, Inc. provides title services from 42 offices in Michigan. The Boston Globe Online provides a searchable database of commercial properties.

3. WEB NOT ABOUT COMPUTERS. "At the end of the day , the Net has everything to do with communications and nothing to do with computers. What’s important is that everyone gets connected—one-to-one, one-to-many, and with highly targeted communications of different kinds." Marc Andreesen, founder of Netscape in "Computer Currents," July 22, 1997.

4. AREA CODE LOOKUP. With area codes increasing in number, it’s impossible to remember where they all are located. Use 555-1212.com to look up what major cities an area code covers. Go to the PikeNet home page and click "Knowledge Base" and then click "How to Look Up an Area Code."

5. ENHANCE YOUR LINK. In July, PikeNet visitors will click over 13,000 hyperlinks to visit other real estate sites. To increase the chances that some of these visitors will go to your site, enhance your link. Enhanced Links are shown in bold and moved to the top of the page above unenhanced links. Enhanced Links can also be listed in multiple categories, e.g., office and retail, or broker and property management. For complete details, click "Enhance a Link" at the top of the home page.

For an example, check out the Faison link, which is shown in four Categories (Office, Retail/Shopping Center, Asset Management and Property Management) in six states across the Southeast. Faison develops, owns and manages office and retail properties.
