Video on the Web... We're just beginning to hear about http://www.pikenet.com/pike?func=emailRequestasting -- streaming video over the web. So it was exciting to see the first broadcast of LipseyTV.com last month. The Lipsey Company is a training and consulting firm based in Longwood, FL, specializing in the commercial real estate industry. With LipseyTV.com, Mike Lipsey is exploring a new way to offer training to the real estate industry. Hey, maybe I'm easy to sell (and by way of full disclosure Mike is a friend). But Lipsey connected to me in a way that a normal TV broadcast or video-tape doesn't. There's something much more real and compelling to a live broadcast over the web, although Lipsey would be the first to acknowledge that the video quality isn't yet perfect. Lipsey charges $95 for a client ($195 for a new client) per session per computer (which could be watched by multiple viewers). The next one-hour presentation, "Compressing the Sales and Leasing Process," is scheduled for Friday, Dec 10, at noon EST. To watch his presentation, you'll need to download RealPlayer, which is a standard program that you already should have on your computer. You'll enjoy it. And while you're at it, check out the Development Channel, which is part of IDRC's SiteNet. You'll find dozens of video clips on development and investment projects. ... What else is out there? Have you seen any really compelling commercial real estate video applications? Please send e-mail to me , and I'll report more in a future Dispatch. --Peter |
